And the Gold Medal Goes To . . .

The 2008 Olympics have come to an end and so has the latest Daily Purls poll. The question was What sports in the Olympics are you watching? Voters were asked to check all that applied. So on to the closing ceremonies!

Of the 16 people who voted, Swimming received 9 votes, followed by 8 for Gymnastics, 7 for Diving, 6 for Track & Field, 5 for Beach Volleyball, 4 votes each for Rowing, Others Not Mention, and All of Them/Can't Get Enough, 3 each for Equestrian, Soccer, and Volleyball, and 2 each for Water Polo and Wrestling. There was 1 vote a piece for Basketball, Boxing, and Softball. Of course there is one in every family, one Olympic Scrooge voted that they Could Care Less About Them. Well bah humbug to you Ebenezer and God bless us everyone, even you Michael Phelps.

Since it is back to school season, the newest poll is designed to challenge you, make you ponder and pontificate. When going into battle, what would you arm yourself with? Paper, rock, or scissors?

In Other News . . .

Justina started the third grade last Wednesday. Of course, this meant that she would bring home the mandatory Innisbrook Wrap fundraising packet on Thursday. Sigh! Have you ever tried to sell wrapping paper and other Christmas chotkies in August? We need to sell $175 worth of this stuff or pay $100 to opt out. You just got to love that parochial school fundraising spirit. Although, I am fairly certain that shaking down parents is on a list of sins somewhere.

James went to visit his family in Victorville this Labor Day weekend, and he took the girls with him. I stayed behind and fed the guinea pigs and rabbit. I also worked on preparing for our 4-H club's enrollment, did laundry, and cleaned. I got a lot of things done but it was so quiet without everyone here.

Also on Wednesday, August 27th was my sister Cynthia and her husband Dave's twentieth wedding anniversary. According to About.com, the traditional wedding gift is china, the modern wedding gift is platinum, and there is even a travel anniversary gift recommendation of San Francisco or China. So you could use a platinum card to book a trip from San Francisco International Airport, fly to China, and bring back some china as a souvenir. Nah, too much. At any rate, happy anniversary sissy del norte and Dave!

Until the next time, take care and God bless. :)
